Les Efforts, San Fernando

Hibiscus originated in China and the Pacific islands. It belongs to the cotton family. The most common variety seen in Trinidad is of the red flower. but there are yellow and white varieties also.  Hibiscus is used for medicine and cosmetics and produces an excellent wine. The nectar from the Hibiscus is particularly liked by the Blue Tailed Emerald Hummingbird.
